Mine-free Afghanistan
The long-lasting war with repeated internal conflicts and fights have left Afghanistan’s land with mines and unexploded weapons. They take the lives of many unaware rural people and leave many amputated. HIRA is working hand in hand with the community to help people save their lives and avoid miserable amputation. HIRA does this by working with de-mining organizations in monitoring, planning actions and precautions, ensuing that the quality of mine action activities in Afghanistan are in line with the national mine action standards.
Our direct intervention with the communities at risk includes but is not limited to awareness seminars and trainings, risk mitigation program.
HIRA advocates for banning the use of landmines and cluster munitions and for promoting the rights and persons with disabilities.
